One of our favourite things at Cassie + Friends is when kids step up and take action towards spreading awareness and fundraising for JIA and other rheumatic diseases. Our Calgary JIA warrior, Jason, is hosting the first kids fundraiser of the year- a pajama day at his school!

Tickets will be sold, by donation, over two lunch hours, and his mom Liz has reported that the first round of ticket sales was a great success, and teachers and administrative staff are very supportive and enthusiastic!

Way to go Jason! Below is a brief backstory from Liz:

“Jason was diagnosed at 21 months old. It has been a roller coaster. He has good days and bad days. Jason was connected with Cassie + Friends in 2018 and they have been a constant source of support and encouragement.

Most recently, a private donor through Cassie + Friends supported new ‘Comfort Kits’ for the pediatric rheumatology department at Alberta Children’s Hospital, supplying families with ways to reduce pain with injections of medications and packs to relieve joint pain. Our family has been involved in research to be able to work with genetics to provide targeted therapy. Jason is hoping to give back to the community that has helped him so much and become a youth leader and one day a mentor for younger kids. That is when he came up with pajama days that turned into Comfort for a Cause. Thank you for supporting him on this initiative.

Jason will be selling tickets by donation (the amount of your choice) Wednesday, March 22 over the lunch hour (he also sold them last Wednesday)! Anyone who purchases a ticket can wear their pajamas to school and support Jason’s initiative along the way! The class that raises the most will win a cupcake or pizza party.”
