“I am hoping our daughter will be able to meet other girls her age with arthritis.”

“Willing to do anything to learn more about JIA.”

“We are hoping to connect with other families that have been through the hard time of arthritis and are trying to have a normal childhood for their child.”

“Oh gosh. There isn’t enough space. I’m so excited about this. The thought of connecting with other parents and asking their opinions on things and how they’ve dealt with things and just having someone actually understand brings tears to my eyes.”

These are the words of just a few of the nearly 50 families set to attend our first Juvenile Arthritis and Rheumatic Disease Family Day conference in Edmonton this Saturday, May 4th at the Lister Conference Centre on the University of Alberta campus.

The event, organized in partnership with the Edmonton Pediatric Rheumatology Team from Stollery Children’s Hospital and Glenrose Rehabilitation Centre, will give 250 kids, parents, siblings, grandparents, healthcare experts and other friends  the chance to experience what Cassie and Friends is all about: life-transforming connection, learning and fun.

This year’s Family Day highlights will include:

  • Family Camp Kick-Off with Olympian, Spencer O’Brien
  • Parent sessions on chronic pain, anxiety/depression, nutrition, uveitis and more
  • Incredible kid and teen programs offering everything from rock climbing to laser tag to reptile shows
  • Our signature special surprise at closing session – NOT TO BE MISSED!

There is truly no other event like this for kids and families living with Juvenile Arthritis and other rheumatic diseases anywhere in Canada – and we can’t thank our sponsors enough for making the day possible! Special thanks to Amgen Canada, the Arthritis Society and Polar Promo.
