Cassie + Friends is joining other leading pain and pain-related organizations to support the recommendations of the #CanadianPainTaskForce and call for their implementation. Over the next week, we will be sharing some of the targeted recommendations laid out in “An Action Plan for Pain in Canada” and why they are important to kids, youth and families in our community.

The plan’s first recommendation is for National leadership to make pain a public health priority and ensure a consistent approach to pain across Canada. With other recommendations including:

– Enable coordination, collaboration, and leadership across Canada
– Improve access to timely, equitable, and person-centred pain care
– Increase awareness, education, and specialized training for pain
– Support pain research and strength related infrastructure
– Monitor population health and health system quality
– Ensure equitable approaches for populations disproportionately impacted by pain

Why is this important to you?

As the only organization in Canada working exclusively in support of the pediatric rheumatic disease community, we have seen the differences in resources and care from province-to-province and even hospital-to-hospital. From services supporting youth as they transition to adult care, to access to medications and essential services like physical and occupational therapy, to a critical lack of mental health support across the board, there is much progress to be made in ensuring every child and family diagnosed with a rheumatic disease has an equal and fair chance at the best possible outcomes for their health and lives.

We invite you to stand with us and #PrioritizePain for our children and their futures by:
