meet Team Cassie + Friends
Every participant on Team Cassie + Friends is fighting for more awareness, support and hope for kids, teens and families in our community. We know what it’s like to see a toddler in pain, to watch a teen be side-lined by a flare or to struggle helplessly with the huge demands of caring for a child’s chronic disease during a world-wide pandemic.
We know, but others do not. And that shows in the amount of resources, research funding and equal access to care and treatments that affects all 24,000 children and their families living with rheumatic diseases in Canada. Team Cassie + Friends is the movement that will change that story – with your help.
Below you’ll be able to get to know and support some of our teammates and partners working hard to create a pain-free future for kids. We hope they will inspire you to step up on one of our run/walk teams and/or make a donation towards our $100,000 fundraising goal!
We still have 5 FREE registrations for kids age 12 and younger available! Email Kelly@cassieandfriends.ca to get your code!
What if we could help kids and families find relief in one of the most difficult parts of their medical journey?
Whether or not you are able to join our official run/walk team this year, you can help us cross the finish-line and bring new hope to families working so hard to help their child be pain-free. Starting this Monday, June 21st, we are mounting a special finish-line push to to raise $15,000 so we can launch a brand new INJECTION SUPPORT PROGRAM.
Our program will combine on-demand/online learning modules with virtual/in-person support groups where kids and families can meet others, find mentors and gain a sense of normalcy as they navigate the many challenges of home injections.
Every dollar raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $15,000! Thank you for your support!

getting active in their own way!
One of the best things about a virtual run is that you can do it 100% your way! You have the freedom to complete your distance however you’d like (run, walk, bike, etc.) all while in the comfort of your hometown. Check out how some of our teammates are getting active for arthritis below:

Brendan Olson, Grade 11
North Vancouver
I am biking a marathon as part of Team Cassie + Friends in the 2021 Scotiabank Charity Challenge. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to support kids and families with Juvenile Arthritis and rheumatic diseases. I have JIA and am thankful that I am currently pain free and able to participate to help raise funds to find a cure. All support is appreciated!

Team Mazzone Zone
Burnaby, BC
Abby has been on her journey with JIA since she was 15 months old. Over the years we have been lucky enough to have an amazing team of doctors, nurses and therapists supporting Abby. Our goal is to walk, run, skateboard, cycle, hike, climb, skip, or stumble 100km each between June 2 and July 5th and to raise $2000 for Cassie + Friends. We will be posting our progress on social media and will keep this page up to date!

Jaylene Prime
Aldergrove, BC
For the 5th year in a row, Jaylene Prime and her family are hosting their annual bottle drive in support of juvenile arthritis on Saturday, June 26th.
