How have you felt seeing some of the familiar medications used to treat Juvenile Arthritis and other childhood rheumatic diseases, like Lupus, suddenly in the news?
With clinical trials and major news articles now talking about treatments like Actemra and Plaquenil as potential answers to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to make sure the kids and teens who’ve been relying on these life-changing medications for years are also part of the conversation.
Today, Cassie + Friends’ Executive Director, Jennifer Wilson, is online at the Toronto Star to explain to Canadians that kids get arthritis too and that these conditions can be devastating – especially without proper diagnosis and treatment.
In fact, 24,000 children in Canada are affected by Juvenile Arthritis and other rheumatic diseases, and many are severely immunosuppressed due the treatments that are keeping them pain-free and active.
Cassie and Friends is committed to finding every opportunity to raise awareness for kids and families in our community and to stand up for the children and teens who inspire our work and mission every day.
