Connecting families affected by juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases in Northern BC!

About this event

Join us and the BC Children’s Pediatric Rheumatology team for an evening of learning, connecting and fun where you’ll have the opportunity to meet other families affected by juvenile arthritis and other childhood rheumatic diseases.

Life is expensive enough – this event is free of charge and open to all Northern BC families affected by juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.

Here’s what we’ll get up to:

  • We’ll kick off the event with dinner and a fun family-focused activity!
  • After welcoming our families, kids will break into their groups led by UNBC volunteers and meet others living with childhood rheumatic diseases. We guarantee that new friendships will be formed and LOTS of fun will be had!
  • In the parent/caregiver room, you’ll hear from a panel of parents, young adults and a member of the BC Children’s team about their experiences of accessing care in Northern BC.
  • We’ll then split into breakout groups where you’ll get to meet other families and discuss topics that are important to you (i.e. medication, financial impact and resources, school support and more!) Let us know if there are specific topics that you/your family would like to see covered.
  • Dinner and childcare provided.

We’ve scheduled this event so that it is coordinated with the September rheumatology clinic dates and have booked a room block at the Pomeroy Hotel for families attending from out of town. Limited financial assistance is available for families experiencing financial hardship – we’re happy to help with costs for those who need it.

Please contact brittany@cassieandfriends.ca if you would like to book a room and/or are in need of financial assistance as reservations must be made in advance.

We really hope to see you there and look forward to hosting an in-person event after two long years in the virtual space!

This event is generously supported by our community partners at Integris Credit Union and Sinclair Group.
